When no ties of kinship can ward off harm

9. He keeps the realm happy in peace and comfort
Luring it with his gifts to well-being

10. Aloof from love of this lowly world
And roused to fervour for lofty deeds

11. He is the sword burnished by a warrior’s hand
Needing no whetstone, no shield for its edge

12. Unveiled and sheathed by valour
And clemency when rage would run wild

13. Gentle in peace, avenging in war
A king’s crown is not won by miserliness

14. But by the bounty of his hands and noble nature
With my heart and rhymes I sing his love

As sickness is complained of to the doctor
