1. Hearts contain his gentle ways,
Yet his might makes the valiant tremble and shake.

2. So whether pleased or angered he appears
Like scorching fire or gushing water.

3. The ample cloak covers his right side
While the year passes, dusty and withering.

4. Tombs contain what his soul desires
More than can spears, no matter how sharp.

5. A line of poetry makes army ranks crumble,
As one who is sparing of words drones on.

6. His lines cast down the distinguished,
As if each letter fatally struck.

7. Dark in appearance, yet his color
Dazzles all who wear armor.

8. In the white plain his gait is elegant,
Yet in battle his stroke is crushing and firm.

9. The storm of his assault wages war,
Then when peace comes he fades and withers.

10. The eminent minister, son of Mohammed,
Whose glory time records and traits recount,

11. Crown of kings, embodying every virtue,
Grandeur of Islam, generous and noble.

12. Dawn gleams from his face’s traits
While night’s shadows stretch out and darken.

13. The sea of my thoughts surges in praising him
Then flows smoothly when praising the sea of thoughts.

14. He protected his pure reputation
From what would defile, from past or present.
