1. We brought the horses from pleasant valleys
To Ctesiphon, where valiant men awaited

١. جَلَبنا الخَيلَ مِن أَكنافٍ نيقٍ
إِلى كِسرى فَوافَقَها رِجالا

2. Leaving behind their homes with longing
And days of separation, long and trying

٢. تَرَكنَ لَهُم عَلى الأَقسامِ شَجواً
وَبِالحَنَوينِ أَيّاماً طِوالا

3. A caller in Fars bid us depart
Crying each time the crescent moon was sighted

٣. وَداعِيَةً بِفارِسَ قَد تَرَكنا
تُبَكّي كُلَّما رأتِ الهِلالا

4. We killed Rustam and his sons by force
Our horses kicking up the sand, excited

٤. قَتَلنا رُستُماً وَبَنِيه قَسراً
تُثيرُ الخَيلُ فَوقَهُم الرِمالا

5. Bērzān fled, unprotected, full of dread
His troops routed, destiny decided

٥. وَفَرَّ البيرزان وَلَم يُحامِ
وَكانَ عَلى كَتيبَتِهِ وَبالا

6. Where we met them, we left only some
Not keen to quickly pack up and be moving

٦. تَرَكنا مِنهُمُ حَيثُ التَقَينا
فِئاماً ما يُريدونَ اِرتِحالاً

7. The Hormuzans escaped to save their souls
Our swift steeds galloping, swiftly proving

٧. وَنَجّى الهُرمُزانَ حِذارُ نَفسٍ
وَرَكضُ الخَيلِ موصِلَةً عِجالا
