1. What is it about the breeze's breaths when they blow
Like magic upon the cheeks of youth and are scattered

2. That is only because they passed
By the meadows of Hejaz and thus became fragrant

3. They carried to the longing one a message
About the fragrance of the one he loves, truthfully telling

4. They dispelled anguish from him, so for that breeze
That removed the weight of sorrows from him without knowing

5. Alas for days whose mornings
Surpass their nights that my love brightened

6. I spent them in the fever of Tihama, safe
From the suspicions of maidens, knowing and unknowing

7. They passed quickly, so how many a heart loosened
With farewell to its neighbor, and how many eyes poured

8. If only they had returned to me, they would have healed
A towering body from the sicknesses of separation that gripped it

9. Are not those the object of my passion, whom my honor is through
Either compelling with kindness or informing with ruin

10. Oh would that a tear, if you allow
Could express what my inner self contains

11. And when hearts come with truth, words do not reach
That a slanderer shows or conceals

12. Oh driver of camels, they did not yearn
To obtain the first of glory except by becoming first

13. Breaking from the region in seeking loftiness
With its ambitions I am covered in dust and holding ruins

14. Enduring terrors, were it not for the light of
The one who made him the object of journey's end he would have desponded

15. Longing at dawn to the noble sanctuary
With an inclination purified like refined silver

16. Whether it garbs itself on that day of beauty in which
Eyes of the generous gush forth

17. Say peace be upon you, oh sanctuary of guidance
From an infatuated soul through you successful and seeing

18. Oh dwelling over which mysteries of prohibition hovered
And by the holiness of its inhabitant hearts are purified

19. Is there for me in your noble presence a standing
That would enliven the one buried far from me

20. You have attained the epitome of all perfection
And the foundations of virtue in you have flourished and borne fruit

21. In the fragrance of the one whose superiority the angels witnessed
This is the homeland of Adam that was created

22. With the shining sun wrapped in a cloak
And the suns of his shining religion never folded

23. It is he whose tomb splits open
And the graves of the earth's inhabitants have not scattered

24. He is the intercessor on the day when existence stands still
And when Hellfire flames up against its inhabitants

25. He is Ahmed who came with the best law
White faced with the countenance of guidance shining

26. A servant, the All-ruling selected as a messenger
Mankind were gladdened at his rising, and the sky gave good tidings

27. By God, if all faces entirely
Looked toward him in faith, they would see

28. But he is by the Owner of Ladders a great mercy
Made easy for his noble nation

29. The Jews saw his attributes but then denied
Him and his nation saw him and did not waver

30. An eye saw him but was not guided to follow him
For the radiant whiteness of his face that it did not see

31. While eyelids lined with the light of his visage
Saw the attainment of their hopes and so triumphed

32. Oh you who by the shades of the glorious are characterized
And traits of misguidance thereby made bitter

33. By his joyous light was unveiled the darkness of passions
And thereby clouds rained down in valleys

34. The water flows in the morn from his palm
Quenching the thirsty and satisfying pleas

35. His is the banner of praise and the pool of drink
His is the station of praise and overflowing signs

36. Incline unto your own soul toward its Creator
Through you in calamities I headed and sought victory

37. It has no doubt that praising you is a drawing near
Through your traditions - meters of poetry illuminated

38. I had realized and knew well that even if I wished
To enumerate some of your virtues, I would fall short

39. But hoping for great stature with you she longed
In both her states - advancing or retreating

40. Be then her intercessor that you save
Her when she beholds the meeting place she has not prepared

41. For you are her greatest pillars when
Ordeal descends or she stumbles

42. Then may you have the best reward of any messenger
On behalf of a nation you guided and made upright

43. I greeted your noble side with a breezy sanctity
Everyday, wherever I headed perfuming

44. And I slept through the Blessed One's blessings upon you
With prayers for you multiplying and repeating
