1. What people acquire for worldly affairs
Is not more beneficial at home than bread

2. And bread with meat, when you obtain it
You are safe from poverty and distress

3. Cheese after it, following in its tracks
For pleasures are truly in cheese

4. The Eid has come and our children
Have no dates or rice

5. That's because time has treated them hostile
With the hostility of a falcon towards a goose

6. They had a goat but it perished
And they were deprived of the goat's milk

7. If they saw bread on a high shelf
They would rush for the bread out of hunger

8. If they could endure hunger they wouldn't miss it
But how can the hungry endure hunger?
