1. God has tested you with afflictions, so I do not blame your torment in your plight
You appear gentle and pure of heart, yet you fell us with your plots and cunning

2. You let some people taste the sweet cup, yet make most drink your bitter torment
How many have you exiled, wandering in the wind without a homeland

3. How many brave heroes have you shackled without a fight
How many in this sea have drowned, spending the night overwhelmed by your afflictions

4. Why, O traitor, O bringer of evil, is there so much scheming in your treachery
If only your trade had brought prosperity, even in small measure from your yields

5. You have made us drink the dregs of death and inhale all kinds of demise
How I wished during my life to be rid of troubles wherever you tread

6. But necessity has forced me to throw myself into this destruction
To be saved from the cunning of enemies, the misguided shepherds of unrighteous paths

7. Shepherds like grey wolves roaming, driving their flock towards demise
On this day we have willingly become captives under your reign

8. Do with us what you desire, when you have prevailed over us with your arrows
But we have hoped in the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Lord of all kingdoms

9. To deliver us on this day from what has befallen us, from the misery of these paths
