1. He came hastening to prayer, his face
Adorned with the fairest roses.
١. جاءَ يَسعى إِلى الصّلاةِ بِوَجهٍ
قَد حَوَت وَجنَتاهُ أَسنى الورودِ
2. A light for beauty shone through it,
Shaming the full moon on brightest nights.
٢. وَسَرى فيهِ لِلمَحاسِنِ نورٌ
أَخجَلَ البَدرَ في لَيالي السعودِ
3. How I wished my face was a ground
That would be blessed when his cheeks touched down,
٣. فَتَمَنَّيت أَنَّ وَجهِيَ أرضٌ
تَسعد الدّهرَ عِندَ لَمسِ الخدودِ
4. And he would prostrate himself upon it
When he bowed his face down in worship.
٤. وَعَليها يَكونُ مِنهُ سُجود
حينَ أَومى بِوَجهِهِ لِلسّجودِ
