1. He has not attempted anything but disgraceful affairs
And gained by it no praise from any class of men
١. وَأَقبِحْ بِه لَم يَحوِ غَيرَ قَبائِحٍ
وَلَم يَحوِ مِن شَيءٍ بِهِ النّاسُ تُمدَحُ
2. How much has he earned reproach for that which the lands contain
Just as they earn reproach for that which people condemn and censure
٢. وَكَم حازَ عَيباً ما حَوَته الوَرى كَما
حَوى ما تُذَمُّ النّاسُ فيهِ وتُقدحُ
