1. The moon has sung over the branches,
So wipe the kohl from your eyelids.

For they are precious gems.

4. Reciting necklaces of pearls composed
In the throat of a gazelle with a beautiful face.

5. As if the roses were stars in the sky
And the narcissus were moons, O wise one!

6. Or like silver platters above which
Are crystal goblets that dispel sorrow,

7. Filled with joyous wine, wine that gives
Wellbeing first to the soul, then the body.

8. The eye has drunk its bliss from them
So tipsiness openly circulates through it.

9. Witness with the wing of night the flower of the sky
And its light on earth transcending branches.

10. It reminds you of the full moons of sublimity
And the brightest stars of the lofty ones in this time.

11. If a star in the sky attained some of the beauty
The full moon of glory is most beautiful.

12. The glorious, prestigious, highly ranked one,
Who in the ranks of the eminent dwelled.

13. The perfect, valiant one, honor of the exalted,
Of lofty lineage, of ample open-handedness.

14. He made the abode of the lofty his home,
And none can compete with the eminent as a homeland.

15. Of excellent reputation and praiseworthy qualities,
And the one among us embued with excellent character.

16. The gallant knight and lion of the battlefield,
Wielder of the lance with which he thrust.

17. Whose awe on the day of battle
Resides in the hearts of the evil predators.

18. Al-Ariha, the generous, ocean of dew,
From the ocean of his palms charity overflows.

19. He remains in the glory of the God of the sky,
Living honored through the ages, and was never disgraced.

20. With the most comfortable life, the joy of tranquility,
And peace of mind, for the length of time,

21. As long as lightning flickered, breeze blew,
And clouds stirred, and bent.

22. However much celebration sang of his verse,
The moon has sung over the branches.
