1. The dew of sweat appeared on his blushing cheeks,
If a lovesick one tasted it, it would cure all ailments.
١. بَدا على نارِ خَدَّيْهِ نَدى عَرَقٍ
لوْ ذاقَهُ مُغْرَمٌ يَشْفى مِنَ الوَصَبِ
2. So I said, it flowed evenly like pearls,
The way pearls are strung on a necklace over embers and flames.
٢. فقُلْتُ قَدْ سالَ مِثْل الدُّرِّ مُنتَظِماً
نَظْمَ العُقودِ على ذا الجَمْرِ واللَّهَبِ
3. As if the brightest and dullest of its beads,
Were pearls of gold on a ground of gold.
٣. كأنَّ صُغْرَى وكُبْرى مِنْ فَواقِعِهِ
حَصْباءُ دُرٍّ على أرْضٍ منَ الذّهَبِ
