1. If my envious detractors blame my noble nature,
They only reveal the purity of my virtues.
١. لَئِن ذَمَّ حُسّادي كِرامَ طَبائِعي
فَقَد أَظهَروا طِيبَ المَكارِمِ مِن خُلقي
2. Do you not see that aloeswood conceals its fragrance,
Which fire alone reveals in the burning?
٢. ألَمْ ترَ أنّ العودَ يكتُم نفحَه
وَلَم يَكُ يُبديه سِوى النارِ بالحرقِ
