1. The people fought near her abode
She glanced back with her eyes' farthest reach
١. تَصارَعَ القومُ بِقُربِ دارِها
فَالتَفَتت بِآخرِ الأَحداقِ
2. And the fighters fell from her gaze, felled
I said: Here lie the battlefield of lovers
٢. فَالقَومُ صَرعى قَد غَدوا مِن لَحظِها
قُلتُ هُنا مَصارِعُ العشّاقِ
