1. When his fervor inflamed my inmost being, no doubt
Quenching it would be my life’s destiny and his approach,
2. And were the waters of the earth to overflow
On the embers of my heart, they would but increase its inflammation,
3. Nor in the whole of time, while I have breath
Can anything avail to quench that fire but his good pleasure.
