1. The carrier camels of Hejaz bore honors,
While the dovelike one dies of love-sickness.

2. You walked fast to meet the beloved seriously,
So love stirred strongly in my heart.

3. Why didn't you walk slowly
For a lover dressed in separation's garb?

4. He moans a soft moan to soften the rocks,
And the doves weep over him.

5. He stays up at night, watching the stars, for
He loved wakefulness and hated sleep.

6. He weeps tears that mimic blood,
Ashamed when the clouds pour down.

7. He sees staying up for love an obligation,
For sleep on him became prohibited.

8. The long night has no morning shining,
As if dawn swore to never rise!

9. The lantern pours its light on
The armies of darkness, its piercing sword.

10. Oh how my heart burns with love's fire,
Growing ever more aflame!

11. Passion flares up in my love-sick heart,
And passion always ignites love.

12. I turn my face forward
To scent Hejaz's youthful western breeze.

13. I desire none but Hejaz,
My heart inclines and craves for it.

14. My eyes see none but it,
Though from all else I'm blind.

15. I've always craved its lightning
To smile on me in my time of need.

16. Oh you carrier, you reached your goal,
And gained in Hejaz an abode.

17. So march seriously on to Taibah,
And descend, pitching tents by it.

18. For in it is the Messenger Prophet,
The noble guide raised to perfect glory.

19. Intercessor for sins, healer of hearts,
He removed from it sorrows and suffering.

20. Beloved of the Exalted, the best of friends,
The greatest guide, truth manifest through him.

21. He dispelled misguidance with guidance’ light,
And light destroys all darkness.

22. A prophet divinely aided with favor
To shelter him wherever gloom gathers.

23. A prophet, foremost of all prophets,
He stepped forward leading as their imam.

24. A prophet who brought us mercy
From God, to envelope all mankind.

25. A prophet, who ascended to the Lote’s limit,
And attained in glory a most lofty station.

26. A prophet who saw His Lord in all majesty,
And God spoke to him and he spoke in return.

27. A prophet for whom the moon of heaven split,
Then after him, the full moon rejoined.

28. He is Al-Mustafa, God's chosen one,
Who clarified for us the lawful and prohibited.

29. He is the strong refuge, the cave of light,
In lifetimes of distress, the helper of orphans.

30. Far be it that when all gather on Judgment Day,
He would neglect me or treat me unjustly.

31. So bless him eternally with divine favor,
And send peace and greetings upon him.

32. And on his family and all companions together,
Grant them your eternal grace.

33. Increase to this all the doves' coos,
And what from Taibah's fragrance spreads.

34. No servant of the Subtle One composes praise,
Arranging eloquence so perfectly.

35. So grant him favor through the Messenger's stature,
And complete your divine blessings upon him.
