1. You betrayed, O time, out of malice and intrigue
The abode of glory, of might and awe

2. You seized the sun of glories from its mansions
And transgressed against it the balance and justice

3. You demolished the pillar of sublime and honor along with nobility
And it is a lofty mountain, needless to say from a mountain

4. You made its meadows desolate in which was its adornment
So you frightened it after the goodness of fertility with displacement

5. After it you lost the white plains and all the nightly conversation and amusement
You emptied the neck of glories and prides of

6. The pearls of pride that graced every adornment
You made tears flow from eyes like clouds

7. That had never wept before, never shed a tear or dripped
You tyrannized, O time, brazenly displaying betrayal

8. Upon a lion none ever attained throughout time
You extended a hand toward it while hostile

9. And bent on evil, so God paralyzed it
And how can your wishes be fulfilled while in a palace

10. Of the zenith of honor, the star of glory resides, Ali
The audacious aggressor, whoever prides from him

11. The boldness of a lion or a hero
The Lord of courage in truth and in war

12. Due to the intensity of might, none can dismay Him
The Lord of politics, its firmness is His insight

13. Thus it conforms to the words of the best of creations and messengers
Who is more insignificant in opinion than Him, then more slight

14. Due to the severity of resolve, He does not digress or swerve
So if He shot His arrow from the bow of His thoughts

15. He hits the mark even if it rises above Saturn
He does not speak except that His words

16. Strike true in anything even if an impromptu saying
How fine a young man whose nature is pure

17. Like the purity of his conduct among all faiths
How honorable a ruler whose way is good

18. In a state that appears among the best of states
He used to listen to good and pay heed

19. And no specious argument makes Him shirk it
He enjoins good and forbids evil doing His duty

20. And no shyness overtakes Him in that
He surpassed Iyas in intelligence, and Ibn Sida

21. In rhetoric with invented meaning and cliché
And he superseded Ahnaf in forbearance, then Antara

22. In valor, and Ma’n of generosity not stinginess
And among them he was more worthy to exemplify

23. Every good trait, a paragon
And the assembly of God, our Creator, does not deny

24. Collecting every perfection and beauty in one man
If he could be ransomed with something for his tragedy

25. We would ransom him with our souls and belongings
But God issued a decree regarding him

26. So there is no repeal, O you of little resource
His Master called him to Paradise to reside

27. So he sprang readily, walking briskly
Complying, responding to God’s command, conforming

28. O fortune of one compliant to God’s command
Who should administer politics in judgments, cloaking it

29. In the gown of justice overflowing gowns
So that wolf and lamb can graze together

30. In safety without injustice or dismay
Who is for turmoil and arenas of war, and who

31. Is for steeds, spears, then swords like Ali
After him justice, its eyes were lost and it became

32. The rest of it lowly in front of misrepresentation or change
O our regret after him, o our loss of our supporter

33. In adversities and in formidable calamities
O stinginess of our eyes if they had wept blood for him

34. And poured over him the essence of tears
And while we weep for him in sorrow

35. The herald of good tidings and bounties came
Saying why do you weep in agony

36. As if their intrepid father deserted them
The lion of the lair, Solomon of the age, and he

37. To whom sublimities belong even if exalted
The sun of ministry, may God make his rule endure

38. For it is a rule from the most upright rules
Your weeping in remembering him is not good

39. His bequest fills countries and homes
And among you is the fortunate heir apparent like him

40. How fine the son of the eminent forefather fully competent
The noble lion, Abdullah, whom glory

41. Struck for him like immutability and crowns
The sun of the sublime in the abundance of honor was his birth

42. From the full moon of glory that appeared in the House of Aries
The strong experienced warrior singularly

43. Who casts down the shoulders of lions and heroes
In good forbearance, humility of wings,

44. Softness of speech, honesty of words and deeds
In good conduct adorned with refinement

45. Over dignified composure, the most ideal of perfection qualifies him
And in shyness without right that overcomes him

46. And no shame can reach him in truth
How honorable a young man marked with beauty

47. Generous, characterized by glad tidings encompassing
Cheeks of superiority with an understanding from its acumen

48. In intricacies, verified with coherence
If he maintained the argument for God's oneness

49. It would refute the claims of the Jabrites and the Mu'tazilites
Lord of rhetoric in meaning and in words

50. Along with conciseness protecting it from lapses
He writes with blades in its pages wisdom

51. And in the breasts of enemies a terminator of hopes
With his equal, glory like his father's was attained

52. And his father's inherent pride has no equal
O perfect cub completely filled with knowledge

53. Have patience, do not panic or tire
Patience is more appropriate, surrender more beautiful

54. Than the skittishness of impatience even if intolerable
God grants him from His grace an abode

55. From the Gardens of Eternity appearing most beautiful of abodes
And pour His good pleasure from the rain of His mercy

56. Upon his burial site like pouring heavy abundant rain
And God protects you in well-being

57. In the prime of life, long in age and term
No meadow blossomed smiling with the smile of rain

58. From tears of rain, from droplets and downpour
No poetry's prose was good where it had

59. The beauty of ending, companion inseparable
