1. O you who can send word to Ali
May God protect him from misfortunes
١. أَلا مَنْ مُبْلِغٌ عَنِّي عَلِيًّا
وَقاهُ اللهُ صَرْفَ النَّائِباتِ
2. Saying what was never said before
And I have not followed the ways of the greedy
٢. مَقالاً لَمْ يكُنْ وَأَبِيكَ مَيْناً
وَلمْ أَسْلُكْ بِهِ طُرُقَ السُّعاةِ
3. Pour out to him the grievances of Islam
To soften the hardened hearts
٣. أَصِخْ لِيَبُثَّكَ الإِسْلامُ شَكْوى
تُلِينُ لَهُ الْقُلُوبَ الْقاسِياتِ
4. For none but you can be hoped
To help it today, O pride of judges
٤. فَلَيْسَ لِنَصْرِهِ مَلِكُ يُرَجيّ
سِواكَ الْيَوْمَ يا مَجْدَ الْقُضاةِ
5. The evil Jews have wearied the Muslims
So that fortresses offer no protection
٥. لأَعْيا الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَهُودُ سُوءٍ
فَما تَحْمِي الْحُصُونُ الْمُحْصَناتِ
6. And for the damned invader there is no deterrence
Except their sons after their daughters
٦. وَلا لِلْمُورِدِ الْمَلْعُونِ وِرْدٌ
سِوى أَبْنائِهِمْ بَعْدَ الْبَناتِ
7. He spends the night striving immorally among them
And you would think he is demanding compensation
٧. يَبِيتُ مُجاهِداً بِالْفِسْقِ فِيهِمْ
فَتَحْسِبُهُ يُطالِبُ بِالتِّراتِ
8. By what authority or judgment
Is he permitted to violate Muslim women?
٨. بِأَيَّةِ حُجَّةٍ أَمْ أَيِّ حُكْمٍ
أُحِلَّ لَهُ سِفاحُ الْمُسْلِماتِ
9. Is there no one who is jealous over the harem
The jealousy of honorable Arabs has died?
٩. أَما أَحَدٌ يَغارُ عَلَى حَريمٍ
أَماتَتْ غِيرَةُ الْعَرَبِ النُّخاةِ
10. Have the sharp swords slept in their sheaths
Or the blades of Indian steel been blunted?
١٠. أَنامَت في الغمود سيوف طي
أم انقطعت متون المرهفات
11. If Islam had an eye
It would shed copious tears
١١. أَما لَوْ كَانَ لِلإِسْلامِ عَيْنٌ
لَجادَتْ بِالدُّمُوعِ الْجارِياتِ
12. Religion calls you with the plea of one who seeks refuge
For your justice from shameless affairs
١٢. دَعاكَ الدِّينُ دَعْوَةَ مُسْتَجِيرٍ
بِعَدْلِكَ مِنْ أُمُورٍ فاضِحاتِ
13. Perhaps you will wash away its dishonor
With your sword, O ally of glorious deeds
١٣. لَعَلَّكَ غاسِلٌ لِلْعارِ عَنْهُ
بِسَيْفِكَ يا حَلِيفَ الْمَكْرُماتِ
14. You will gain reward and undying fame
As long as the nights and days remain
١٤. تَنَلْ أَجْراً وَذِكْراً سَوْفَ يَبْقى
عَلَيْكَ مَعَ اللَّيالِي الْباقِياتِ
15. One like you - how can this be allowed him
With his wicked behavior and deceit?
١٥. أَمِثْلُكَ مَنْ يَجُوزُ عَلَيْهِ هذا
بِخُبْثِ مِحالِهِ وَالتُّرَّهاتِ
16. The land has not diminished until he sees it
As a place for his shameful trade in the dwellings
١٦. وَما قَلَّ الْوَرى حَتّى تَراهُ
مَكاناً لِلصَّنِيعةِ فِي السُّراةِ
17. Talk of him has filled the country
Passed between the mouths of narrators
١٧. فَقَدْ مَلأَ الْبِلادَ لَهُ حَدِيثٌ
يُرَدَّدُ بَيْنَ أَفْواهِ الرُّواةِ
18. It is hard on the ruler when he hears of it
And the company of aggressors rejoice
١٨. يَشُقُّ عَلَى الْوَلِيِّ إِذا أَتاهُ
وَيَشْمِتُ مَعْشَرَ الْقَوْمِ الْعُداةِ
19. So take what is His right against him
And do not fail to punish the adulterers
١٩. فَخُذْ لِلهِ مِنْهُ بِكُلِّ حَقٍّ
وَلا تَضَعِ الْحُدُودَ عَنِ الزُّناةِ
20. With death, burning, or stoning
To atone for the great sins
٢٠. بِقَتْلٍ أَوْ بِحَرْقٍ أَوْ بِرَجْمٍ
يُكَفِّرُ مِنْ عَظِيمِ السَّيِّئاتِ
21. And do not forgive him any sin, so he will repeat it
For some pardon makes sinners more daring
٢١. وَلا تَغْفِرْ لَهُ ذَنْباً فَيَضْرى
فَبَعْضُ الْعَفْوِ أَغْرى لِلْجُناةِ
22. So those in the land of the Nile will know
And those who have crossed the Euphrates to settle
٢٢. لِيَعْلَمَ مَنْ بِأَرْضِ النِّيلِ أَضْحى
وَمَنْ حَلَّ الْفُراتَ إلى الصَّراةِ
23. That you are most zealous among them for justice
And most desirous of piety and good deeds
٢٣. بِأَنَّكَ مِنْهُمُ لِلْعَدْلِ أَشْهى
وَأَرْغَبُ فِي التُّقى وَالصَّالِحاتِ
24. And most angry when the swords clash
Against the mighty tyrannous chiefs
٢٤. وَأَغْضَبُهُمْ لِدِينِ اللهِ سَيْفاً
وَأَقْتَلُ لِلْجَبابِرَةِ الْعُتاةِ
25. For if the common people are wronged
The blame is on the rulers
٢٥. إِذا أَمْرٌ أُضِيعَ مِنَ الرَّعايا
فَإِنَّ اللَّوْمَ فِيهِ عَلَى الرُّعاةِ
