1. My certainty, my certainty of afflictions of misfortune,
And my resolve, my resolve in the emergence of calamities,

2. An army of determination will surely help me
With which I have overcome the affliction that overcomes me,

3. And whoever made fighting time his habit,
Sees the hitting of nights, not the hitting of disasters.

4. Yet I have a path of patience,
That expands during the narrowness of paths,

5. And calamities did not debase me as much as
They raised me after refining me with trials,

6. They seized ephemeral wealth,
And gave excellence in abstinence that does not go away,

7. So I have no luscious meadow of hopes,
Nor refreshing water of wishes near me,

8. As if my promise to it of closeness was never,
And my debt to it of obligations was never,

9. And the need of a soul that my dreams require
And through which justices of my positions are fulfilled for me,

10. I counted for it the lightning of clouds as delusive,
Another delusion - and there is no dripping from the clouds.

11. And is my shouting with sincere determination beneficial
If I have lightning of fortune that is lying?

12. I can do without settlements by mere talking,
And without clouds in the direction the stars pour.

13. The self-sufficiency of honour not the greed of humiliation,
Makes me refrain from attaining wealth, every desirer.

14. When people mounted the vessel of wealth in submission,
I saw nothingness better than my vessels.

15. If people mounted wealth with competence,
And clear excellence, I would be the first rider.

16. And though I do not reach goals, I do not seek,
And do not attain needs, I do not request,

17. Not every supplicator attains what he desires,
Nor every cooer is disappointed of what he hopes for.

18. Wealth is very close to me,
Closer than what is between my eye and its brow.

19. I will take my hopes to the son of the trusted one,
So it will succeed despite the twists of time against its companion.

20. My hopes only got out of hand as much as
The generosity of Ali permitted regarding grants.

21. If you are someday a hopeful, be a granter
Of all wishes, every granter.

22. A man whose hopes are fulfilled,
Marvels are not astonished by him.

23. Of a people, if the nights wore
Their clothes, it would not notice the stars.

24. When the paths of the travellers to the heights darkened,
They travelled and lit up between them with relations.

25. They left the gravel of their land with honour,
A more honourable means than the stars of the horizons.

26. You see time, how far it took them to their destination,
Turning away from them the disasters of the stars.

27. When you hold on to their means of deliverance,
You dyed the swords - clear of every disputant.

28. Those did not accept from honour and wealth
Except what they looted with spears and striking swords.

29. It is as if their sustenance was not made lawful by the religion of their glory,
Except through lofty deeds and freeing of neck-veiled maidens.

30. When they brought it close to confront it,
The distance of what is between a hill and the hanging clouds distanced it.

31. When they descended upon a land, its expanse was cultivated
And no tails of clouds were dragged over it.

32. With green prairies whose breadth,
And valleys whose abundant Drink is pleasurable.

33. I see time fight one who makes peace with it after
We accompanied it a time at peace with the fighter.

34. So take refuge during my day of enmity with
The most resolute of the people - the comrade of my night and pouring rain.

35. You gain with judicious rule the wealth of one lacking,
And relief of a worried one, and protection of a fugitive.

36. The heir of enduring glory did not neglect
With his deeds to leave a fresh glory for any striver.

37. Prudence covers him with thoughts it
Uncovered for him of what is beyond consequences.

38. And an opinion that shows him behind the saddle,
What is hidden from him is not absent from him.

39. You remained with the perpetuity of the lamps, and like them
Lofty and protected from the turns of calamities.

40. And may your six sons remain as flowers, they are
The stars of glories in the sky of virtues.

41. You shot arrows from the kinanah tribe that
Every correct perceiver continually benefits from.

42. With determination you attained what escaped kings,
It takes the place of fortune with the seekers.

43. I did not lack them until you surpassed them
With your view in dealing with overwhelming calamities.

44. And the wild cows were not ennobled over the value of rubies
Unless the shine of striking brightened them.

45. I turned away from the purpose of kings, and with them
Are wonders they did not aspire to with my wonders.

46. I was tossed by the expert hands vigorously
As the beads are tossed in stringing by the hand of the counter.

47. When yearning allured me to praise you,
I chanted comfortably and my carriages groaned.

48. With a composition of purest pearls whose metre
Is prose, but their pearls are from virtues.

49. It lives the age of time until when it passes,
It remains and did not cast on the tooth of decay.

50. I felt the lot of poetry with the wealthy
Is similar to the lot of white hair with the youthful maidens.

51. I do not fall short of glory and loftiness
Except that I made it one of my acquisitions.

52. He is counted as an equal whose wealth
Makes him needless even if he does not equal them in ranks.

53. If an idea crosses your mind about me,
It will return with confirmation by the lying suspicions.

54. And you became, by your sword, refreshed and fertile,
My side forbidden and protected by your sword.
