1. O Father of Glory, how many seekers
See in you their utmost desire
١. أَبا الْمَجْدِ كَمْ لَكَ مِنْ طالِبٍ
يَرى بِكَ أَفْضَلَ مَطْلُوبِهِ
2. I asked you for intimacy, and in it
Is the lover's delight with the beloved
٢. سَأَلْتُكَ مِسْكاً وَوَجْدِي بِهِ
كَوَجْدِ الْمُحِبِّ بِمَحْبُوبِهِ
3. And if I mentioned you in a gathering
My mention of you suffices over its pleasures
٣. وَلَوْ قَدْ ذَكَرْتُكَ فِي مَحْفِلٍ
غَنِيتُ بِذِكْرِكَ عَنْ طِيبِهِ
4. To mention one like you is the best substitute
When others are stingy towards me with it
٤. وِذِكْرِي لِمِثْلِكَ نِعْمَ الْبَدِيلُ
إِذا ضَنَّ غَيْرُكَ عَنِّي بِهِ
