1. Your blessings have become monuments for me
Praising you in a market of gratitude
١. لَقَدْ أَصْبَحَتْ نُعْماكَ عِنْدِي مُشِيدَةً
بِذِكْرِكَ في سُوقٍ مِنَ الْحَمْدِ قائِمِ
2. A beautiful garden may impress, but it only
Shows the virtue of accumulated goodness
٢. وَقَدْ يُعْجِبُ الرَّوْضَ الأَنِيقُ وَإِنّما
يَدُلُّ عَلَى فَضْلِ الْحَيا الْمُتَراكِمِ
3. You have flooded me with gifts and favor, yet
Every stern white is sweetened and ripened
٣. غَمَرْتَ نَوالاً واصْطِفاءً وَإِنَّما
يُحَلَّى وَيُقْنى كُلَّ أَبْيَضَ صارِمِ
4. I am not the first to come to your heights
Nor the first to seize your rewards
٤. وَلَسْتُ عَلَى عَلْياكَ أَوَّلَ وافِدٍ
ولا أَنا مِنْ جَدْواكَ أَوَّلُ غانِمِ
5. I only wished to honor my speech
By praising you or fulfilling the noblest duties
٥. وَما شِئْتُ إِلاّ أَنْ أُشَرِّفَ مَنْطِقِي
بِمَدْحِكَ أَوْ أَقْضِي ذِمامَ الْمَكارِمِ
