1. O beauty, you are the moon and its sky
Your radiance dispelled the darkness
١. يا حُسْنَهُ قَمَراً وَأَنْتَ سَماؤُهُ
أَطْلَعْتَهُ فَجَلا الظَّلامَ ضِياؤُهُ
2. O happiness of the auspicious newcomer, the secret of secrets
Destiny has blessed him with immortality and eternal bliss
٢. يا سَعْدَهُ مِنْ قادِمٍ سُرَّ السُّرُو
رُ بِهِ وَهُنَّئَ بِالخُلُودِ هَناؤُهُ
3. He came to you with the glorious army, crowned
With glory, his banner fluttering triumphantly
٣. وافاكَ فِي جَيْشِ الْفَخارِ مُتَوَّجاً
بِالْحَمْدِ خَفّاقاً عَلَيْهِ لِواؤُهُ
4. A moon that outshone all moons in fortune
None can match his glory or equal his stature
٤. قَمَرٌ كَفى الأَقمارَ سَعْداً أَنَّها
أَشْباهُهُ فِي الْمَجْدِ أَوْ أَكْفاؤُهُ
5. He rises and sets in eternity as her equal
As she is supreme, so are his peers
٥. يُمْسِي وَيُصْبِحُ فِي الْبَقاءِ شَرِيكَها
أَبَداً كَما هِيَ فِي الْعُلى شُرَكاؤُهُ
6. You have guaranteed his ascension with every virtue
For the Prophet's grandson is as virtuous as his daughter
٦. كَفَلَتْ عُلاكَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ فَضِيلَةٍ
إِنَّ النَّبِيهَ نَبِيهَةٌ أَبْناؤُهُ
7. Whoever was your father, it was fit for his glory
That it would endure and his edifice be firm
٧. مَنْ كُنْتَ أَنْتَ أَباهُ كانَ لِمَجْدِهِ
أَنْ يَسْتَطِيلَ وَأَنْ يُشادَ بِناؤُهُ
8. Branches grow toward their roots, the best of them,
Is a branch that grows toward you, nurtured
٨. تُنمى الْفُرُوعُ إِلى الأُصُولِ وَخَيْرُها
وَأَجَلُّها فَرْعٌ إِلَيْكَ نَماؤُهُ
9. Whoever is of brilliant ancestry and progeny
Is not daunted by his rise and ascent
٩. مَنْ كانَ مِنْ نَجْلِ الْبُدُورِ وَنَجْرِها
لَمْ يَعْدُها إِشْراقُهُ وَعَلاؤُهُ
10. You have made the two brilliances three with a third
Without you, his peers would be confounded
١٠. وَلَقَدْ ثَلَثْتَ النَّيِّرَيْنِ بِثالِثٍ
لَوْلاكَ أَعْجَزَ ناظِراً نُظَراؤُهُ
11. No distinction can be made between them but for
His valor and generosity in virtue
١١. لا فَرْقَ بَيْنَهُما يُعَدَّ وَبَيْنَةُ
فِي الْفَضْلِ لولا بَأْسُهُ وَسَخاؤُهُ
12. Who would criticize the sun for its brilliance?
Or find fault with the full moon for its splendor?
١٢. مَنْ ذا يَذُمُّ الشَّمْسَ عَمَّ ضِياؤُها
أَمْ مَنْ يَعِيبُ الْبَدْرَ تَمَّ بَهاؤُهُ
13. Yet they are what they are, but for one hopeful
Whose hopes were dashed and expectations ruined
١٣. وَهُما هُما لكِنَّ مَنْ لِمُؤَمِّلٍ
أَكْدَتْ مَطالِبُهُ وَخابَ رَجاؤُهُ
14. One pursued by unrelenting fears
With no prospects or means of escape
١٤. وَطَرِيدِ خَوْفٍ لا يُحاوَلُ مَنْعُهُ
سُدَّتْ مَطالِعُهُ وَعَزَّ نَجاؤُهُ
15. A prisoner of fate beyond reprieve
A victim of poverty with no revival
١٥. وَأَسِيرَ دَهْرٍ لا يُرامُ فَكاكُهُ
وَقَتِيلِ فَقْرٍ لا يُرى إِحْياؤُهُ
16. Never has time granted a grace
Like the copious gifts of the generous father of good fortune
١٦. لَمْ يُعْطَ هذا الدَّهْرُ قَطُّ فَضِيلَةً
كَنَدى أَبِي الْيُمْنِ الْجَزِيلِ عَطاؤُهُ
17. For the noble, every malady has a cure
In the healing hands of the sons of Latif
١٧. إِنَّ الْكِرامَ لِداءٍ كُلِّ مُلِمَّةٍ
أَعْيا عَلَى الْفَلَكِ الْعَلِيِّ دَواؤُهُ
18. No affliction has come except that
The remedy lies with the sons of Abdullatif
١٨. ما مَرَّ خَطْبٌ مُمْرِضٌ إِلاّ وَفِي
أَيْدِي بَنِي عَبْدِ اللَّطِيفِ شِفاؤُهُ
19. Good fortune is their guiding star
Outshining the radiance of dawn
١٩. إِنّ الْمُيَسَّرِ وَهْوَ كَوْكَبُ سَعْدِهِمْ
لَيَجِلُّ عَنْ رَأْدِ الضُّحى إِمْساؤُهُ
20. A son whose ancestors are the sublime
Is outshone by his own fathers
٢٠. وَلَدٌ إِذا فَخَرَتْ بِآباءِ الْعُلى
أَوْلادُها فَخَرَتْ بِهِ آباؤُهُ
21. Whoever seeks to emulate his ancestors
Endures endless hardship in this futile quest
٢١. مَنْ رامَ مُشْبِهَهُ سِوى أَسْلافِهِ
فِي الْمَكْرُماتِ الْغُرِّ طالَ عَناؤُهُ
22. You inherited beauty so its brilliance shone
And grasped perfection so its gems dazzled
٢٢. مَلَكَ الْجَمالَ فَأَشْرَقَتْ لأْلاؤُهُ
وَحَبا الْجَمِيلَ فَأَغْرَقَتْ آلاؤُهُ
23. Like a polished sword, the flashes of his wit
Illuminated his horizon and his traits sparkled
٢٣. مِثْلُ الْحَيا سَطَعَتْ لَوامِعُ بَرْقِهِ
فِي أُفْقِهِ وَتَبَجَّسَتْ أَنْواؤُهُ
24. You were adorned with his gifts, none asked but
His splendor overwhelmed and his brightness blinded
٢٤. قُلِّدْتَ مِنْهُ مُهَنَّداً ما سُلَّ إِ
لا راق رَوْنَقُهُ وَراعَ مَضاؤُهُ
25. The minarets bow to his smallest toe
And the orators wander lost when given his pulpit
٢٥. تَسْمُو بِأَخْمَصِهِ الْمَنابِرُ واطِئاً
وَتَتِيهُ إِنْ رُقِيَتْ بِها خُطَباؤُهُ
26. The sweet words of praise pale before his true merit
And eulogies fall short of his due
٢٦. وَيُجِلُّ قَدْرَ الْمَدْحِ عاطِرُ مَدْحِهِ
وَيَطُولُ عَنْ حُسْنِ الثَّناءِ ثَناؤُهُ
27. His nature and his name are one
His deeds and his titles are the same
٢٧. وَكَأَنَّما أَخْلاقُهُ أَعْراقُهُ
وَكَأَنَّما أَفْعالُهُ أَسْماؤُهُ
28. He follows his forefathers, his grandfather and father
In noble deeds and magnanimity
٢٨. جارى الأُصُولَ فَجِدُّهُ مِنْ جَدِّهِ
فِي النّائِباتِ وَمِنْ أَبِيهِ إِباؤُهُ
29. So revel and let your life stretch on wearing
The cloak of a boundless, unlimited livelihood
٢٩. فتَهَنَّهُ وَتَمَلَّ عَيْشَكَ لابِساً
فَضْفاضَ عَيْشٍ لا يَضِيقُ فَضاؤُهُ
30. And let your brothers revel, their company a debt
On time, fulfilled by destiny
٣٠. وَتَهَنَّ إِخْوَتَهُ الَّذِينَ وُرُودُهُمْ
دَيْنٌ عَلَى الأَيّامِ حَلَّ قَضاؤُهُ
31. Until you see them through the passage of ages
Honored by time as its nobles
٣١. حَتّى تَراهُمْ مِنْ تَنُوخٍ أُسْرَةً
كَرُمَ الزَّمانُ بِأَنَّهُمْ كُرَماؤُهُ
32. Ascend and remain, for no person of rank passes
Except for your ascendance and his remaining
٣٢. واسْتَعْلِ وَابْقَ فَما لِراجٍ مُنْيَةٌ
إِلا بَقاؤُكَ لِلْعُلى وَبَقاؤُهُ
33. I have forsaken all people for the One
Who forsakes the ignorant for the wise and pure
٣٣. إِنِّي هَجَرْتُ الْعالَمِينَ إِلى الَّذِي
هَجَرَ الْغَبِيَّ إِلى الأَبِيِّ صَفاؤُهُ
34. With gratitude - how can one deny the merit of the hopeful
When even his enemies admit his outstanding grace?
٣٤. شُكْراً وَكَيْفَ جُحُودُ فَضْلِ مُؤَمَّلٍ
شَهِدَتْ بِباهِرِ فَضْلِهِ أَعْداؤُهُ
35. The warrior cannot draw his sword in valor
Unless the spear's glory diminishes
٣٥. لا يُصْلِتُ الْبَطَلُ الْمُقارِعُ سَيْفَهُ
إِلاّ إِذا ما الرُّمْحُ قَلَّ غَناؤُهُ
