1. The sanctuary of al-Shafi'i is a refreshing shade,
Its spring is a gushing stream.

2. In it generosity overflows,
And kindness pours forth unhindered.

3. Its meadow has become a blissful abode for visitors,
Full of joy and abundant blessings.

4. To visit it is a gateway to bounty,
Wherein is honor and lasting glory.

5. Rise up toward the sanctuary, and seek the honored threshold,
For guides point the way to its blessings.

6. Say, O al-Shafi'i, with true intent,
"At your threshold stands a humble servant."

7. No! By God, do no harm in any way,
You bring pride to the meek and the mighty.

8. You remain, in reverence, like a lion
Guarding this sanctuary, absent and unseen.

9. The sanctuary protects the people like an impenetrable fortress,
Unfailing in sheltering all visitors.

10. He whose patron is the Imam
Will enjoy the bounty of his guardian.

11. An Imam encompassing knowledge and merit—
To him the eminent and virtuous are in need.

12. He is the sage of Imams from Quraysh,
Few can equal him, he is peerless.

13. Through him the light of Sacred Law shone radiantly,
And by his works the path was illuminated.

14. His ship sails the sea of knowledge
Steadfast in God's Law, never wavering.

15. In his youth he traversed the land
To attain noble knowledge.

16. He gained every glory of fortune,
While time itself grew dim and languid.

17. His wisdom enveloped the horizons
Like abundant rain and flooding Nile.

18. Through him Egypt boasted over all creation,
Reciting this graceful ode of pride:

19. There is no difference in pride among people—
The lodger and the settled are the same.

20. Through him and Ahmad's family, the land of Egypt
Rose in esteem—far from decline!

21. O eminent scholar, through whom the world glories,
O ocean by which anguish is remedied!

22. Caravans of visitors have come to you
To seek a sanctuary of acceptance.

23. They hope for gifts from your generous right hand,
Whose boundless giving is ever pouring.

24. So turn your glance, with your abounding grace,
For your patronage, my lord, is copious.

25. No share reaches one who visits with ill intent,
For good intent's fruition is attainment.

26. Be a pillar for the people of knowledge,
For your path in life is long and lofty.

27. He who celebrates your birthday as a banner
Has founded a noble, peerless tradition.

28. Be for me the best of guardians,
For my devotion to you will never change.

29. You are for us the door to the Chosen One,
And the door of goodness is opened by the Messenger,

30. May God send blessings upon him whenever we read:
