1. The ink of Imams, Rabah al-Shafi'i
The vast, bountiful Rabah al-Fadl

2. The light of Shariah shone through him
Like the light of a full moon in the dark night

3. As if people, since arriving to him
Were pilgrims arriving to the Sacred Land

4. His sweet spring is a gushing Euphrates
Crowds gathered around it in a hubbub

5. His virtues exceed the grains of sand
And his ocean of knowledge has surged high

6. When the Imams of Quraysh are mentioned
He speaks of this lofty Imam

7. And he mentions him before all of them
Except for the Sun of Guidance, Light of Darkness

8. Through him, plates of the earth were filled with knowledge
As the hadith of Tihama was verified

9. He, the Qurashi, is more knowledgeable than others
About the intent and purpose of speech

10. So if you seek closeness to Taha
And from Taha to the Master of Men

11. Then come to al-Shafi'i, most eminent
Of lofty status and sublime station

12. The Imam of Shariah, indeed the Sea of Creation
And the ocean of virtue, haven for all thirsty

13. His generosity overflows to visitors
Like the outpouring of his harmonized knowledge

14. In the sea of his knowledge, ships sail
With the Shariah as their lofty banner

15. Knight of the arena of scholars, flying high
Master of outpacing the tyrants

16. Turn to him and head for his refuge
For the rain of generosity roars there

17. Stand with etiquette and seek his approval
For his approval is the height of hopes

18. Say: O intercessor, to you we came
Upon you, the most fragrant greetings of peace

19. So extend the hand of your endless generosity
To visitors with your magnificent gifts

20. And provide us in your season of giving
As you've accustomed us every year

21. So many times, O Imam and Household
You've showered us with good from the clouds

22. Rejoice - how much, O pilgrims,
For you, the Abode of Peace is guaranteed

23. I stretched my hands to your Ali
Hoping for healing from the pain of illness

24. O best of Imams from Quraysh
Smile upon us

25. And those attending your celebration
My elders of magnificent stature

26. And my Master, grant us all
To conclude beautifully in love of al-Shafi'i
