1. There are people of God who uphold the faith
And immerse themselves in knowledge and virtue's spread

2. They sought the heights, striving in every noble deed
Until by God's grace they attained what they deed

3. Their sides shun soft beds
And their merit attests that they never slept

4. The finest food for them is knowledge and cognition
From delicacies of food they all fasted

5. So by worthy effort they attained what they sought
Until through them Islam shone in the world

6. This is the jihad of knowledge that raised
For the Prophet’s faith lofty flags

7. They built up the faith and its pillars grew firm
And from the edifices of ignorance collapsed vain fancies

8. Glory belongs only to the people of knowledge for through them
The religion's feet were made firm among mankind

9. Have you not seen Al-Shafi'i at his doorstep
Where for knowledge heads of people bowed down?

10. Al-Qarshi the eminent in lineage a treasure of knowledge
And for people their foremost provision

11. If a people rely on an opinion
Then all follow while this ocean leads

12. With his knowledge the earth's horizons brimmed
True sayings flowed and doubts were dispelled

13. He spent his life travelling and settled
To attain virtue and breach the frontiers of merit

14. No homeland distracted him from wandering
In serving the Sacred Law or made him refrain

15. How numerous are the sciences which seeking is arduous
By them the dreams of the faithful shone

16. To him all kings by knowledge submitted
For kings are the servants of the people of knowledge

17. So much, so much, of traits I cannot enumerate
Which pens in books' depths recorded

18. The ship of knowledge sails over the tide
Its sail the Sacred Law and its cargo rulings

19. Spacious is the place of alighting of benevolence from its onset
And in hearts for it esteem and reverence

20. No people came to his precinct
Except by success attained what they sought

21. Have you not seen today's visitors fill
The ample space and on them grace overflowed

22. His virtues encompassed visitors when they came
To this noble person in this inviolable precinct

23. Each attains of gifts and God's grace apportions
According to his intention, divisions

24. Egypt through him and the Zahrawis prospered
For they are Egypt's pillars and rulers

25. O judge of the Sacred Law we are your guests
And from you the honoring of guests comes

26. So look on us with a glance filled with support
O sea of merit by which glories became general

27. And for all the virtuous people of knowledge
For they are your loved ones and kin

28. And those attending and who served you
For from goodly work they never slept

29. And regard with the eye of approval whoever came to recite to them
