1. This imam with vast glory for the neighbor
So drink when thirsty from his flowing spring

2. Flowing with whatever you wish of generosity, honor,
Knowledge, aid, and secrets

3. This is the sea, though its course is gentle
Sweet Euphrates for visitors and passersby

4. This is the light, its rays do not fade
As jurisprudence in the universe flows from its lanterns

5. This is the lamp of the scholars, their exemplar
All are ignited by its enduring flame

6. The ink of insight combined with his vision
So seek him with soft fingertips

7. See how many times he traversed the vast desert
Armored with patience in glory and danger

8. Until he reached the heavens of virtue, his brilliance apparent
And the individual became immortalized in perpetuating his legacy

9. His knowledge extended above the heavens like a grapevine
Flourishing over the North Star, raising its esteem

10. By him the caravans of virtue altogether lengthened
Until they ascended to the heights in excellence of ideas

11. Pride of the imams in opinion and authority
Their precedence in every field of competition

12. The cosmic Qurayshi scholar of lofty lineage
Of reputable descent from the purest ancestry

13. By his knowledge the horizons of earth are filled
True discourse circulates this in the best reports

14. How many miracles of knowledge appeared through him
Like the dawn glow in the time of late night prayers

15. The sea of Shariah flows above its coast
The ship of law steers every current

16. Egypt and the House of the Prophet boast of him
Above all other lands, surpassing all capitals

17. I seek forgiveness from God but for Tayba, for it
Deserves all reverence and glorification for the Prophet

18. Upon it the veil of light is lowered
The most generous dwelling of that abode over any other

19. But we have, by the purity of his family
And al-Shafi'i, protection from all perils

20. The jurist of Shariah, pillar of virtue, his center
Guardian of truth from the injustice of foes

21. For him miracles are recounted in their virtues
Like the full moon beaming beautifully in the dusk

22. Recounted abundantly, numbering the sands
If gauged by them, or the rains emulated

23. Chronicled by able hands
Their fragrance has scented the pages of books

24. O masters, come and be assured
The imam is for you among the best supporters

25. All the delegations, of whom you are the best that came
Will be granted acceptance with gracious welcome

26. All return elated with bestowal
Content, rewarded with gifts and charity

27. All gain their share of the aid
But deprivation of acceptance disgraces the deprived

28. O Shafi'i, we alighted in your broad courtyard
So host the guests, for you are the ever-giving

29. And may those of guidance and jurisprudence altogether
Be fortunate, for they are the luminous moons of humanity

30. And all who sincerely served your cause
And devoted their efforts purely to the Creator
