1. Great afflictions have grown,
And the hand of doom has destroyed Sandal.
١. لَقَد عَظُمَت صائِباتُ الرَزايا
وَأَودَت بِصَندَلَ كَفُّ المَنايا
2. So who is there for the raw meat before the cooking,
And who is there for the shredded before the frying?
٢. فَمن لِلبَوارِدِ قَبلَ الطَبيخِ
وَمَن لِلمبزِّرِ قَبلَ القَلايا
