1. The mantle has come, all-encompassing,
Stirring doubt in its beauty and softness,

2. Weighing on my shoulders though it be light
And gentle, by the measure of the air.

3. My eyes wander over it and my heart
In the folds, the water, the radiance and splendor.

4. It receives the blows of partings with the coolness of union,
And summer in the temperament of winter.

5. Time flutters in the breeze as flutters
The heart of the coward in the fray.

6. Every part of it pulses to the spirit
The wish of union and the coolness of faithfulness.

7. It has no share for fire or earth,
It is of my essence, of air and water.

8. It increased my ambition and my soul,
And my aspirations to loftiness, and increased my pride,

9. So that when I strut about in it
I have donned the mantle of half the moonlit sky.
