1. O house which I am leaving as an emigrant,
Though I glance at you with a fluttering eye.

And the resident of an eye is drawn to you.

3. I restrain my love for fear it would betray me.
You are my wish - if not for an enemy I dread.

Then love and longing would die when neighbors.

5. If enemies have protected their words from us,
Their looks have not protected us.

6. Shall I abandon a house in Hejaz toyed with
By wars and enemies, or are you its visitor?

7. If I come to it, I will attain only through its favor.
If another comes to it, its perils will ensnare me.
