1. His face contained all beauty, perfect and bright,

١. وَأَغْيَدَ يَحْوي وَجْهُهُ الحُسْنَ كُلَّهُ
وَيُنْكِرُ أَنَّ البَدْرَ فيهِ شَريكُهُ
2. He came, cup in hand like purest silver wrought,
As if forged by lujayn from finest tibar tree.
٢. أَتاني وَفي يُمْناهُ كَأْسٌ كَأَنَّها
مِنَ التِّبْرِ يُعْلَى باللُّجَيْنِ سَبيكُهُ
3. The wine I disputed with him through the night,
Till the cock's first crow with the dawn heralded light.
٣. فَنازَعْتُهُ الصَّهْباءَ طَوْراً وَتارَةً
جَنَى الرِّيقِ حَتَّى نَمَّ بالصُّبْحِ دِيكُهُ
