1. O people of Jusham, return my heart, for it
Longs for the white cheeks and the sparkling eyes.

2. And if it strays from you, call for it over the tribe,
For in my heart there is a place that is never empty of you.

3. If you do not return it, I will lay down before you
A slain victim of love - neither bitter nor sweet.

4. And if you say, "Why don't you find solace?" you would wrong me,
For if my heart is with you, when can I find solace?

5. O people of Jusham, I implore you by God, have mercy on my soul
God, whose word is action, is its seeker.

6. And spears over coats of mail held by hands that extend
To the mighty honor - the successors and the messengers.

7. It is Umayyad blood that does not cease raging,
And nothing comes after it but fleeing or death.

8. Was not the fate of Uthman an example for people?
So do not make his error lawful, for he transgressed.

9. Were it not for passion, battalions would have marched to you,
Saddened by the sorrow and the easy ground.

10. But I could not bear the scent of camel-hair tents, nor did
The sands bring to me the people of my love - may the sands be watered.
