1. Glory raised aloft on the summit of glory
Radiant over the world both seen and heard

2. Never has time darkened its bright rising
While others in life’s meadow are downtrodden

3. The envious man’s glance falls short of its goal
His teeth broken on the rocks of failure

4. Yet we have inherited from them rancor and spite
While we remain mild and praised in gentleness

5. If only fate’s end were to cut short
What grieves base cowards and brings them pain

6. The noble have departed as the vile increase
Good is shunned while evil spreads its wings

7. Though they boast no lineage, yet they have temerity
Each villain among the people is feared

8. Does it harm them that their uncle is not
Amr al-Ula, Hashim, or Rabia?

9. While we are sated, quenched in wealth, yet ours
Are the fortunes of Abu Sufyan's house and hunger
