Has turned against us, or time's wheel revolved around us,
١. أَلَسْنا بني مَرْوانَ كَيْفَ تَصَرّفَتْ
بنا الحالُ أَوْ دارَتْ عَلَيْنا الدوائرُ
2. Whenever a child of ours was born, the earth rejoiced
And pulpits shook with joy for him
٢. إِذا وُلِدَ المَوْلود مِنّا تَهَلَّلَتْ
لَهُ الأَرْضُ وَاهْتَزَّتْ إِلَيْهِ المَنابرُ
