1. A longing lover's message, tormented by separation
Ignited by the distance burning within his ribs

2. A comrade of insomnia due to remoteness and determination
His passions ever rising, aspiring toward you

3. Kept from you, distanced, yet in his heart's expanse
Sorrows blaze, fanned by ardour’s flames

4. Destiny shot him with the arrows of remoteness and disgrace
Piercing shafts of anguish loosed by determination

5. Distractions incline him toward passion, longing for fever’s home
Yearnings turn tender hearing but mention of Nejd

6. His wistfulness on the homelands’ remoteness and desolation
If only bliss would bless his visit to you

7. Settled, with a heart departed, his cheek ever shedding
Tears from eyes that separation saddened

8. The nights’ trysts hindered his resolved will
And behold, in its steps determination's shackles

9. Happy for a people heading to Yathrib’s land
Attaining ample rewards, transcending bounds

10. By God, blessed lands where musk permeates the soil
And brilliance blew like the north wind’s breath

11. Where reverence, forbearance and softness camped
And pride, praise and glory established domain

12. Though days stand between me and it
My life runs short, effort proves futile

13. Beyond tears and sorrow, I have nothing
Perhaps a gleam of gracious approval might shine

14. O guide of sighs! One hopeful of kindness bears
My complaints – may wisdom enfold you

15. When you come to those prairies, greet them Muslim
And say I sing their praises, compose verse

16. Still I hope in them despite the distance, though fate
Decreed none obtain their gift of banishment

17. If discarded, still no replacing them,
If exiled, no substitute for them exists

18. For whom might the longing lover complain, O best messenger
And from whom might aid for my domain come?

19. My tent is folded, from you I hope for its pillar
How might one sponsored by you be refused?

20. So intercede for my sins, greater in number
Than any count might circumscribe

21. Upon you, God’s peace as long as the breeze blows
And sparks in the tinder of Al-Ban quarter flare
