1. Repent your sins with sincere repentance,
Perhaps your Lord’s pleasure with you is near.

2. Humble yourself before Him in seclusion,
With clouds of tears flowing from your eyelids.

3. The suns of the righteous have risen and shone,
And for your sun among them is a setting.

4. The days of youth’s prime you wasted,
So when will I see you turn repentant?

5. Do not feel secure from time’s ups and downs,
For time is full of events and calamities.

6. Let not the peace deceive you, O heedless one,
For with it are plots and wars.

7. Restrain your gaze when it starts to wander,
For ahead of you is a momentous day.

8. Watch over your Lord in all your limbs,
For with each limb you have a watcher.

9. A sickness persists in your heart with no cure
Except the flowing, pouring tears.

10. Woe to the youth whose time has passed!
I revisited it, though hearts have folds.

11. By God, my tears have not done it justice,
If I were as sad as Jacob in his sorrow.

12. An era came when my friends attained wishes,
While I got my share of money and companions.

13. O best of those who tread the earth, the plaint of a young man
Whose sins have distanced him from you.

14. He called you, while yearning stirs his heart,
So he has a right to your kindness from afar.

15. Melting in yearning, wasting away in sorrow,
And in your generosity’s absence, wasting away.

16. What is the state of one who in the west is alone,
While he has a beloved in the valley of al-Aqeeq?

17. Greetings unto al-Aqeeq and its inhabitants,
Spreading with its breeze north and south.
