1. The Traces of Time's Pen
With every decisive line, a title

2. Among them, some are perplexing
For every resolute person, an explanation

3. Stand amidst the abodes and reflect
If you are of those who draw lessons

4. And look upon them and be wary
For in them is cause for wariness

5. How many teachers have passed away
Yet no trace of them remains

6. The leaves of alfa grass weep for them
And the cooing of doves is sorrowful

7. So let the ruins mourn them
For in the hearts of the passionate there is grief

8. Hearing the melody of existence
About it, minds became enlightened

9. Of absence and presence
Both are the essence of evidence

10. For how long, o disciple
Do you strut in the garb of negligence?

11. Complaining to us of ailments
While you are steeped in sins

12. So take refuge in the Most High
For with us, there is benevolence for the penitent

13. The passing away of the people of the spiritual path
Is absolute existence

14. Every subtle meaning
Through them is realized

15. Their lights in the dawn
By them, the successful ones prospered

16. They clarified the paths
They are evidence for us in the world

17. So incline towards them and do not
Neglect the seasons of time

18. O forgetful one, join us
Awaken from the sleep of heedlessness

19. Submit to us and we will do
What was and what will be

20. There is no power but through our power
So dismiss doubts and suspicions

21. O betrayer, the night has departed
Hasten, for lingering is not seemly

22. To God belongs what is beautiful
To spend the night immersed in passion

23. O seeker of dew
Yearning for generosity and intimacy

24. Head towards Ahmad
The full moon of the Most High, the sun of perfection

25. And count among those who love
And are engrossed in praise and say

26. If you come to a barren land
You will be met by noble youths

27. They are the lines of exaltation
And Yusuf ibn al-Qasim, the title
