1. Is there any hope for a lover to meet his beloved?
To arrive at the true guide, at righteousness and piety,

2. Through praising the best of mankind, I mean,
And spreading his virtues east and west.

3. He possesses the highest honor above all the proud,
For he has attained the utmost sublime stations.

4. There is no pride higher than the pride of Muhammad,
No honor loftier, no glory earlier.

5. Through him we have surpassed all people, without doubt,
And attained the pinnacle of glory, a lofty ascent.

6. With love of Allah's Messenger our bliss is sweet,
We have thrived, and with him we never fear misery.

7. Indeed my longing for the Beloved and his tomb has lasted long,
Oh how I wish I knew if I may meet him!

8. Yearning draws me out of love to mention him,
When the brilliant lightning flashes and illuminates.

9. The melody of poetry delights me and I sway
As if I were a branch, tender and leafy.

10. The doves of passionate love have cracked my heart,
And after meeting them I met their like.

11. Alas if I fail to attain their company,
And woe to me if I have no meeting place.
