1. He came visiting after he had deserted

١. زارَ مِن بَعدِ ما هَجَر
وَوَفى بَعدَ ما غَدَر
2. The crescent moon when it dawns
The full moon when it rises
٢. خوطُ بانٍ إِذا خَطا
بَدرُ تَمٍّ إِذا بَدَر
3. I revel in his cheek's glory
Apparent to him who in it lies
٣. أَنا في جاهِ خَدِّهِ
وَالَّذي فيهِ قَد ظَهَر
4. With the excuse, when seeing
His beauty, of one who excuses
٤. مِن عِذارٍ إِذا رَأى
حُسنَهُ عاذِلٌ عَذَر
