1. O you whose sword's harm
inflicts wounds in the body of my life,
١. يا مَن لِسَيفِ أَذاهُ
في جِسمِ عَيشي جِراحُ
2. if my face seems alive,
my poetry's face is impudent.
٢. إِن كانَ وَجهِيَ حَيّاً
فَوَجهُ شِعري وَقاحُ
3. So make war into peace,
for in it lies prosperity.
٣. فَصَيَّرَ الحَربِ سَلماً
فَالصُلحُ فيهِ الصَلاحُ
