1. When I come seeking rain as a supplicant,
I find a cloud whose sides are moistened by dew.
١. وَخِلٍّ إِذا جِئتُ مُستَسقِياً
وَجَدتُ سَحاباً نَداهُ النَدى
2. It makes the rain follow behind me
Whenever I set out at its appointed time.
٢. يُجَرّي وَرائِيَ إِنجازَهُ
إِذا ما رَكِبتُ لَهُ مَوعِدا
3. Sweet is its taste when I drink it.
Why then should I not make it a trysting-place?
٣. حَلا طَعمُهُ لِيَ إِذ ذُقتُهُ
فَلَم لا أُصَيِّرُهُ مَورِدا
