1. If a friend does not forgive a friend's offense,
It is only due to the absence of noble traits.
١. إِذا الخِلُّ لَم يَغفِر إِساءَةَ خِلِّهِ
فَما ذاكَ إِلّا لِاِختِلالِ المَكارِمِ
2. So despair of tasting the flavor of gratitude
If there is no sweetness in the taste.
٢. فَكُن آيِساً مِن طَعمِ شُكرٍ تَذوقُهُ
إِذا لَم يَكُن في الذَوقِ حُلوَ المَطاعِمِ
