In a night whose full moon

1. In a night whose full moon
Shone like a mirror unveiled,

2. With swords of glances keen-edged yet gentle
My heart became its sheath enthralled.

3. Our cups went round until
His cheek grew rosy red,

4. When sugar rolled over sending him
To lay his cheek against my cheek instead.

5. The only taste of him I got
Was a vision that settled on my mouth like mead,

6. He who is like me will never be content
With what would shame the virtuous deed.
