1. When dawn appeared in the wake of daybreak,
And darkness withdrew from us with its bright stars,

2. I headed to the baths, leaving the path of worries,
And came to it fleeing the grip of drunkenness.

3. There I saw a young man whose body
Was more delicate than the water flowing over him.

4. He had sweat on his cheeks that looked
Like dew above a rose or bubbles on wine.

5. I was as if in heaven I had reached
Where stars were scattered over the full moon.
