1. A screen with a graceful view
Its painted faces shine
١. وَسِترٍ لَهُ مَنظَرٌ مونِقٌ
وُجوهُ تَصاويرُهُ تُشرِقُ
2. Horses gallop in its field
And its beauty appears exquisite
٢. تَلوحُ الجِيادُ بِمَيدانِهِ
وَتَبدو بِمَبرَكِهِ الأَينُقُ
3. Armies in it are seen with their gear
As people have scattered about
٣. فَهَذا رِباعٌ وَذا شارِفٌ
وَهَذا أَغَرُّ وَذا أَبلَقُ
4. There is one with a bridle that burns
A helmet here has splendor
٤. يُرى الجُندُ فيهِ بِآلاتِهِم
كَما مَخرَقَ الناسَ قَد مَخرَقوا
5. And armor there has elegance
This one's turban never wears out
٥. فَهَذا بِسَرجٍ لَهُ مَذهَبٌ
وَذا بِلجامٍ لَهُ مَحرِقٌ
6. That one's cap never falls apart
This one no flaw trips up
٦. وَخوذَةٌ هَذا لَها بَهجَةٌ
وَجَوشَنُ هَذا لَهُ رَونَقُ
7. That one no rip rends
Water springs in its squares
٧. وَذا لَيسَ تَبلى لَهُ عِمَّةٌ
وَذا ما يَرِثُّ لَهُ قَرطَقُ
8. A garden with dense trees
Among its flowers are branches
٨. وَذا لا تَعَثَّرَهُ تِكَّةٌ
وَذا لا يُخَبِّلُهُ شَفشَقُ
9. Of shining and gleaming kinds
And however pretty something is, a lad
٩. وَماءٌ يَفورُ بِساحاتِهِ
حَديقٌ بِأَشجارِهِ مَحدَقُ
10. Wishes, if it would speak, it spoke
Whose water almost shines
١٠. لَهُ بَينَ أَزهارِهِ أَغصُنٌ
فَمِنها المُنَوِّرِ وَالمورِقُ
11. That kisses this one and casts a glance
This is some of it, not all of it
١١. وَكُلِّ مَليحٍ يَوَدُّ الفَتى
إِذا لاحَ لَو أَنَّهُ يَنطِقُ
12. And who will believe me when I speak?
Oh you, a screen whose beauties
١٢. فَهَذاكَ يَحمِلُ قارورَةً
تَكادُ مُدامَتُها تَبرِقُ
13. Elude descriptions, so can't be matched
When we're ordered to take it down
١٣. وَهَذا يُعانِقُ هَذا وَذا
يُقَبِّلُ هَذا وَذا يُرمُقُ
14. Eyes see it and on it hold
If our place were a paradise
١٤. وَذا بَعضِ ما فيهِ لا كُلُّهُ
وَمِثلي إِذا قالَ مَن يُصَدِّقُ
15. From it would hang brocade
١٥. فَيالَكَ سَتراً مَلاحاتُهُ
تَفوتُ الصِفاتِ فَما تُلحَقُ
١٦. إِذا ما أَمَرنا بِتَعليقِهِ
رَأَتهُ العُيونَ بِها يَعلَقُ
١٧. فَلَو كانَ مَجلِسُنا جَنَّةً
لَكانَ مِنهُ إِستَبرَقُ
