1. You were chosen by fate and destined by the stars,
So how could mere blood clots aspire to your making!

2. O imprint of God in the dimensions of His planet,
Where space is a book and the horizons are its pages.

3. You were not mere flesh on bones growing in the depths of Amina’s womb,
But the most sacred of mysteries

4. Than a sperm in the waters of creation could fathom!
A secret envelops you in a secret, and the circle of mysteries

5. Has not ceased to close around you.
So reveal yourself, for I am a (Companion), equal to the (Companions) in status,

6. Except that they preceded me!
I pledged allegiance to your memory, so my neck inclined...

7. And the pledge of truth, no neck shall twist away from it!
Blossoming, and in my soul are traces of his dew.

8. O you who ascended the (Mountain of Light)
From which the truth spread across the earth unleashed!

9. We have returned to you from history, traversing it
Until (Hira) - but the paths did not lead us.

10. Where is the path your steps threaded,
Flowing like a river upon the breast of the desert?

11. Days have lost their course,
So that no step now trusts in itself.

12. The landscapes weep... No soul stirs them
Except the winds that slip into confusion!

13. And time has dried of meaning, so there is no purpose
For which the hours race.

14. All search for the radiance of their essence,
But on the horizon there is only fear and anxiety.

15. The sands of (the Peninsula) - how the wars have praised them! -
Were almost choked by their own echoes:

16. Who will heal the essence within humans?
The question nearly caught fire upon the desert!

17. And its bow was strung by news of a report
That in the joyous flight of the arrow, when the arrow takes leave:

18. From beyond the earth God extended His hand
Toward life, and so humanity overflowed.

19. He chose (Mecca) as the basin of His mercy,
Every layer desiring the one below!

20. An abundance of grace whose truth they could not grasp,
A people bewildered by their own imaginings.

21. Until the unseen revealed its secret...and when
The voice of truth echoed through the horizons:

22. Good tidings of life with a Captain...the maps
Were united in him, and the paths submitted to him.

23. (Taha)...and who but (Taha), when
The ship of creation calls for him, need not fear drowning?!

24. O rose of truth, we still share with it
The secret of fragrance that fills our souls.

25. In the depths of our loins there grew from drops
A yearning fetus in which water and clot sighed.

26. And the ship of memory led us to a time
When your Lord nurtured you on its shores - love and manners.

27. (Halima) knows that when her claws one day
Drew you forth, dawn would burst from her teats.

28. Among the suckling women of (Bani Sa’d) you stepped...
Behind your steps stalked hatred and malice!

29. What is it to her, when eternity has given her
A river from which grace pours forth unleashed?

30. O you who denied the self until you chose wakefulness
That some slaves eased by you might rest.

31. The wound of prophethood is the sun’s wound...
The soul of beauty closes it, and among its names are mercy.

32. From a (cave’s) seclusion you kept to yourself,
From sorrows you retreated...from an obsession fires blazed!

33. From a (well) the dreams of shepherds expired...
From a tent folly and discord spread!

34. From all that gloom...your eyes blazed in their revolt,
And history began to radiate!

35. The earth married her axe in your hands
Until roses and meadows proliferated from her.

36. The dream awoke, glorious with its knight,
Cradled by destiny, and embraced.

37. You surfaced in the procession of Tawheed, unsheathing
A sword - had it not been for guidance, you would not have unsheathed!

38. You recite your brilliant psalms, and so
The roaring truths race to the echo.

39. You carry the most sublime torch steadily,
Into darknesses...where the shadows flounder!

40. Your steed is satisfied by the breath of panting
Upon its flanks, and sweat.

41. Forgive, O Prophet of Guidance... Forgive, if
The bridge of verse has trespassed upon your heavenly abode.

42. Excuse my expression, if you see its seeds
Sprouting from the shrub of lament and splitting open:

43. Your memory is close to choking in lights...
A sun with no horizon to match its size!

44. An armada of dawn beyond the unseen, hiding away,
While souls and sights are confined in its harbor.

45. Who will take me to you, when your intimacy disquiets me
To the extent of torment, and all horizons around me are burrows?!

46. I give you news: this universe remains a court
That rules to sever the hands of those who have not stolen!

47. And in the essence of humankind, the wound
Has not ceased spilling its blood to the farthest reaches of earth.

48. Lessen your burden, for how you have striven to heal it
With miracles, but it will not be healed!

49. Your thread has not wavered in the faith of its weave
Since those who cleaved and those who mended broadened the wound!
