1. You still shine, O youth, glorious
Staying though time creates anew

2. You are to lovers nothing but bliss
With which they lived happy days of old

3. Days when life was soft and tender
And time kissed youth yet young

4. The abode was fragrant soil where
The beauties trailing gowns would sweep

5. A guest inhales its oak essence
As their eyes deny seeing dust

6. They offer the deer sheltering beneath
The shade of an arákah’s tender branch

7. A gazelle freed of the anxious glances
Killed by its beauty though envied

8. Delighted to the eyes but in the heart
Suppressed though glad at heart

9. Hearts now count his calamities but
Did not fear him happy though wretched

10. The bright cheeks stained with beauty spots
Now have scorpion stings to note

11. One who wakes safe tasting saliva
Was baptised in its gathering at eve

12. How oft have I embraced it a night
When my chastity died witnessing

13. In the horizon its crescent’s halo
The stars rose in good augury

14. Muhammad called, so he and his son
In its high minaret were lodged

15. It is the badge of glory that paved
Eternity with their honour smooth

16. They furnished its courtyards with two moons
As if sitting flowers midst stars

17. United in virtues taking such pride
Matching old with new in report

18. Over them each pole revolving
The heavens pride lineage and grace

19. They were of yore when glory but shells
Scattered pearls in ordered rows

20. Their ancestor is the endless sea having come
As time’s necklaces heavy set

21. The tide of kindness none but they
Offered as a running spring

22. No other remains above the soil
Except as their heir keeping guard

23. Secured through the care of his Lord
Honour and victory by him dwelled

24. Devoted solely to God in deed
Fearing the hidden and worshipped Lord

25. As if his body parts were all eyes
And hell their kindling fiery food

26. None of his organs has sinned
But were distant from sin and void

27. So you find him trembling in duties
Unable to risk any laboured fault

28. He sleeps with a soul not leaning to desires
Living his night in praise glorious

29. If night unravels he offers welcome
With palms where no favour fails

30. Rites as God wills, gifts none can tell
But the God who knows all in count

31. O he whom if people shared his grace
The Majestic would not share at all

32. For God a loins that carried you
Where piety inside was cradled

33. She does not eat as embryos eat
But you were reared on thanks without cease

34. You came and all the world was ignorant
As the light of knowledge shone clearing shadows

35. The Amina though barren became
The um al-nudáwhen hailed as mother

36. From your ancestors the glories prevail
Subduing honours most famed

37. The mantle of piety was always draped
On each immaculate forefather

38. No house of honours was raised for you
Except where your brother stood its column

39. Witnessed are the traits of the Trusted
That he excelled the best of all humans

40. And is most fitting in rank by The Sublime
Measure above all measures gaining increase

41. He who spent freely in this mean time
More precious than white nûq souls in creation

42. And the horizons traveled to and fro
To his sea of kindness in every direction

43. His spring of honour flows more
When breasts of others harshly dried

44. If a beginner in glory became its end
For every end his brother was its renewer

45. The branded camel is no use in Dhi al-Rida’s abode
So it left to water in glee

46. The Tigris neighbors where it found
Its banks extended in bounty

47. The sea neighbors morn and eve
Where generosity can always flow

48. Jadhlån always rises for munificence whenever
Darkness sets out lamps for caravans thronging

49. Seeking the light whose white blaze when dimmed
The stars increase its wick kindling

50. With cheek fairer than the dawn sun
Vanquishing all gloom silencing

51. Glory here is no pretender but
Was born to the mother of glories eminent

52. For the highest rank the loftiest determination hovered
Scaling the ascent ever upward

53. The generous soul for him struggles
Controlling the realm of high rule

54. If necklaces of glory entwined
His virtues for them unique will stay

55. The sun of the horizons of honours and their
Guiding moon for those roving the ruins and sands

56. Inheriting bounty from deep bounty
He remains in gathered glory without peer

57. From that lion comes this cub
Since lions beget ferocious lions

58. O you whose verse fails to encompass describing them
Even if filling time with plenty odes

59. They who gathered honours in plenty
Then spread never to reunite

60. In the assemblages of the exalted when present
The greatest fall kneeling in prayer

61. The daughter of my thoughts has gifted
Your countenance pearls and necklaces intricate

62. Revealing their beauties upon you
Gleaming thereby your glories bright

63. A scattering that adds rainbows Still leaving DaÃod entranced
Immortalised for you all praise

64. Though praise itself for you lasts
You thus remain in your Lord’s bliss

65. Though in lasting with no set term
