1. The dawn of poetry greeted you at morn
Revealing affection and young love

2. With brilliant eloquence
Like suns dawning in their splendor

3. She was enthralled praising you
So she donned the robes of delight

4. She came thanking you for favors
That had preceded her, freely bestowed by you

5. You honored her with gifts that came
First from you, not sought through request

6. She faltered bearing them, so you
Gave strength to effort, reinforcing her

7. So she came short of reaching your steps
A pace made heavy, so she dragged her train

8. And called you, O peerless comforter
A father never feels for his son as you feel

9. What can I say in praise of one
Whom God's book has extolled?

10. The sublime, guiding knowledge, which
The scholars cannot attain in its loftiness

11. Inheritor of the Imams, whenever
They bequeathed, with no diminishing

12. Embodying all their merits
Except for leadership and prophecy

13. Can any dispute his supremacy,
Each desiring through it his own elevation?

14. Whence come you? The legacy of fatherhood
Belongs only to the son

15. What portion do you claim in sharing
With the son of God's revelation?

16. For in every age there is one Imam
As exemplar, and our Imam of this age

17. To whom we turn, is Mahdi
Is he equaled among you?

18. Wholly devoted in his deeds
To God, not to fancy and lust

19. Deceiving not in secrecy
Cloaked in the silk of piety

20. Rather pure for God's sake
Pious in solitude and company

21. Steadfast in a state by which
He became an example for all faith

22. Then aid his cause, for nothing
Binds faith stronger than his cord

23. How many tribulations has he eased! How much
Has he apportioned from his compressed store!

24. And insoluble affairs rendered smooth
Since he calmed them after their ferment

25. He is son of a people whose hands
Plunder does not make familiar

26. Father of pure deeds, never in time
Were their like forgotten among men

27. Moon of heaven! His father
In nobility, whilst they and meteors are brothers

28. Born in a house of revelation's houses
Highest of the high in summit

29. Suckled on the milk of Imamate
From the breast of prophecy

30. A house for virgin glories, graced each day
With new unveilings of its wonders

31. It is a Kaaba, generosity its crescent idol
And courage its inviolable sacrosanct stone

32. Best dwelling midst scarcity of trying days
And dark night of wintry blasts

33. In it plant your hopes and you will find
Them seeds that sprouted with blessings

34. In generosity it has a Jafar
Munificent, who makes the sea seem niggard

35. And shows you the softness of his hands, that accept
The roughness of rainclouds in drought

36. Raiding every day the caravan of hopes
Plundering, he smiles as they are seized as spoils

37. How often has the aroma of his gifts spread
From the hearth of the potter neighbor!

38. And how often by it to honor he ran
And the noble hastened after to attain it

39. So spur your steed of hope without stop
You will never see it balk or turn away

40. The destitute pin their hopes, so he paused
The praiseworthy ladies met their brother

41. No longer fearing the violence of dearth
He is the epitome of open-handedness and chivalry

42. The water of life for the lovesick heart and its remedy
No sooner does he incline to the lofty

43. Than the girls wish to rise in station
Except piety, his brother in kind

44. A worthy seed of excellent stock
This eulogized one in the heights

45. Named for the eulogized
Enraging the envious when he appears

46. Saddening the adversary when extolled
In him the traits of merit testify

47. He is the paragon of merit
His features relate the features of those who

48. Became the essence of glory in morn’s first glow
The perfect soul, Muhammad

49. Most generous of the generous elite
He and Hussein of the lofty

50. Both proud steeds of pedigree
Two sprigs of honor whose fragrance

51. Suffuses the gardens of prophecy
O brethren in sublime kinship

52. Blessed are those ties of brotherhood!
A talent greeted you rapturously

53. None but you embodying the gift of prophecy
It created then offered you from its yield

54. Frank praise, pure drink for the virtuous
And from it gave you recompense

55. For benevolence, a draught refined
When dressed in robes of acceptance

56. It is right she struts with pride
