1. O home of the lost veil,
The winds caress you,

2. Watered by the rains of life,
Laughing beauty of horizons.

3. How much within you I regretted
A moon circling a departed sun,

4. And a gazelle strutting gracefully
Smiling with wit.

5. The charm of flexing limbs
From the wine of youth, a laughing cup,

6. Who seized the hearts of lovers
With an inebriated, sober glance.

7. The passionate strove with me
To tame my love for the salty beauty.

8. When has a lover ever asked
Permission for the winds to blow?

9. Who commanded the birds
In narrow formation to take flight?

10. Never shall they succeed
In taming my feathers.

11. To me, O caller of passion,
And away from me, O censurer!

12. The blackness of dawn grieves me
For a visitor crying her loss.

13. Her crying as though
Grief proclaimed the loss of her wits at dawn,

14. As the angels in the sky
Announced their mourning in lament.

15. Grieving the day when
Corruption prevailed over righteousness,

16. When the banners of pride
Were lowered after the struggle.

17. The sons of tyranny took control
Over the people, though meant for goodness.

18. The swords and spears of youth
Surrounded the grandson of Ahmad.

19. They called him to submit
To peace or to battle.

20. In their offer they thought
To humble him completely.

21. But when the lion cub roared,
O Umayya, with a fierce howl,

22. You marched the army of misguidance
Against the son of the dignified ancestor.

23. He came at him with resolve
With an army fully prepared.

24. He went to defend God’s faith
With a face radiant like the dawn.

25. He faced the battalion alone
As their deep wounds poured forth blood.

26. When they called for neutrality and truce
He called for goodness and for battle.

27. With his claws he held fast
To the fearsome lion's grip.

28. They hid from him in shame
Behind their yellow spearheads.

29. He kept thrusting his spear
Into their hearts and wings.

30. His sword in God poured forth
The blood of the sons of tyranny

31. Until He called him to Himself
And he immediately responded to the journey.

32. He climbed to the highest of heavens
On the clear path of honor.

33. And the daughters of Fatima
Became those who loudly lamented.

34. Transformed into ones captured
By fires blazing with heat.

35. After they had been
In a most sacred sanctuary.

36. Strange that they became captives
When they were meant for conception.

37. An unjust war drove them
To a miserable wasteland.

38. God is greatest! O mountains
Quake upon the open ground!

39. The daughters of Ahmad
Were gifted to the cursed soul.

40. Their tears flowed
From deep, painful sobs.

41. They lament the first defender
On the day of turmoil and cries.

42. They grieve for the most compassionate one
Whose absence saddened the desert.

43. Where are their beauty and sorrow
When chastity is violated?

44. They yearn for their guardian, their thirst
By the fresh water never quenched.

45. And how many honored women
Were shamed without consequence!

46. What dangers were permitted them
By God, what awful dangers!

47. May God protect all the honored
And respected ways.

48. Mother of all misfortunes like this,
You are made barren, unable to conceive.

49. O you who collared the necks
Of the innocent with tolerance.

50. March them back proudly
More beautiful than the laughing cheek.

51. An uncivilized woman surpassing
Her peers with eloquent speech.

52. I hope you accept her though
My praise falls short.

53. Upon you be prayers as long as
The ways of righteousness are known through you.
