Its dresses clothed them, and the meadows were adorned with embroidered coldness

2. And every celebrant of life was generous to it
So it kept the exuberance of its vegetation, and bade them farewell

3. The seasons succeeded each other upon it, one after another
So it was a summer resort for the mixed company and a square

4. When its lightning loosened at its edges
The pearls of its rain scattered from where they had gathered

5. When the soft, green wind greeted its tree branches
I plucked a perfume that scented all the air

6. It is not that it was adorned when the wind softened
But the wind adorned it with adornment

7. Despite me, the meadows of life have become miserable
In the evening, life departed from it and went away

8. I stood in it seeking water, so I watered it
Until I drank the water in it with tears

9. I pastured in it the soft, green sprigs of play
I go and come delighted with the white sand dunes

10. And in it I accompanied time and easy living
Nights in which my intimate company gathered

11. As if the darkness was a king of the Zanj wearing
From the horizon a crown studded with stars

12. He spent the night appearing from the radiant flowers
A bride whose beauty was too great for her to be veiled
