1. You were honored with the patient ones greatly
So remain populated and inhabited, O courtyard

2. Above this beauty you are clothed with more beauty
And for these lights you increase in light

3. You are but a garden upon which Allah has placed
Like the garden of immortality, a fence

4. If springs were made to flow in you
From which the servants drink fresh water

5. Then indeed you have in you springs, but
They were made to flow by envious ones out of hatred

6. So your land surpassed the sky and said
If there is a boast, then it is borrowed from me

7. Do you boast about planets while I have
What makes the planets proud tomorrow?

8. My lamps illuminate you, so from my sun
The morning appears radiant in you

9. And for my inhabited House of God, the Lord of lords
Has honored your inhabited House of your Lord

10. You have the pride of the shell that opened
From two pearls that rivaled the sun in light

11. They are two domes that neither one of them
Has a match like the dome of heaven

12. He who has power over all created them with His ability
Saying "Be," so they became luminous

13. Around each minaret made of gold
Their beauty manifests at daybreak and nightfall

14. Every dome became greater in status because of them
Thus displaying exaltation over them

15. You became of a sight that tells
Of a maiden who lightly steps with dignity

16. Like a bride who appeared with shiny earrings
Filling the heart of her beholder with joy

17. You were blessed with minarets erected
As pillars carrying the Tremendous and Sublime

18. They raised the dome of existence, and had
It not been for their Holder, it would have collapsed

19. O Remover of disgrace, good tidings to you, you left
Your ancient envious enemies stumbling

20. Who saw before you an uncle like your uncle?
Kings' hoarding does not diminish his value

21. His open hands expanded in an era
In which man was created stingy

22. He scattered springs whose runoff
Made the existence laugh, illuminating the rugged terrain

23. He hoarded the treasures of success in buildings he showed us
Were his hidden treasures

24. And we saw his generosity so we cried out
Thus do the great kings give generously!

25. He clothed these palaces with joy
So he will be clothed with joy and enliven palaces

26. Written upon its walls are “Ta Ha” and “The Mount” and “Hud” and “The Book”
Raised upon its walls, visible

27. My prose description was confused in depicting it
So this structure publishing it scattered it

28. In its pages there is magic, but
Its writing, since the eloquent saw it, was a scripture

29. Divert from me the sorcerers of beauty, and beware
Of being lured by its magic and flying away

30. And speak of the excellence of Farhad, and see
How from it you have spread a matching garden

31. An advisor in every matter, but
For other than the sword, he did not seek advice

32. In the heat of wars he grew up, and they were
The most apparent forests in which he grew

33. He was brought up among the commons, so he was a cloud
And was chosen among the elite, so he was pure

34. His gown was filled with knowledge, forbearance,
Firm wisdom, and abundant generosity

35. Do not assess the flow of his palm
And the dew of his palm that extends the seas

36. Rather the seas derive their streams
From it - how many relied on it, so it flowed

37. Generosity became scarce in our time, yet in
Farhad, that scarcity became abundant

38. How many necks, which he freed
And which his gifts liberated, releasing them!

39. If we saw the stream of al-Mijarra initially
As small enough for travelers to wade across

40. Today it falls short of him. It stopped
Short of a sea, no longer allowing crossing

41. The Radiant sprinkled the Pleiades in the path
Of his lofty court which amassed noble deeds

42. And he became spreading with it a palm of generosity
Which scattered the dead dew that was buried

43. And he called out, “O highest hope, here are my fingers
So milk them for the pure milk of generosity!”

44. And their udders burst forth with copious milk
Not decreasing or running low

45. And leave others, for those are rivals
Who leave the bow in your hands broken

46. And do not pressure the sinews, rather it is best
If you make the sinews pliant twigs

47. Sa’d brought joy to the ears of time with singing praise of you
Making whoever you wish hear it, even rocks

48. And turn to the town of nobles with your rhymes
Congratulating and giving good tidings

49. Say to it, “You did not cease to be a paradise of intimacy
In which people find bliss and blessings”

50. We did not come under your protection except that we found
A blessed town and a Forgiving Lord

51. And two Imams who save from the Fire
Whoever in them turns protection-seeking

52. And a scholar who became a father to the children of knowledge
And honored through it a caring father

53. And a blossoming young man whose trails of piety
Shook off the world though it was tempting

54. How often we extended the steps of hands that showed us
The most helpless of people when they prepared a helper!

55. And Muhammad al-Hasan folded them,
So his excellence remains renowned

56. For in truth, he is the Shaykh of the party of truth
And whoever says other than that, speaks falsehood

57. You were blessed in people, land and air
How often we inhaled its camphor-like fragrance!

58. Al-Mahdi protected you from being blamed
And al-Mukhshi has spared you fears

59. And from security he extended over you a shade
And from pride he clothed you in splendor

60. Who competes with his loftiness, a great Shaykh
And tribes have submitted to his smallness?

61. We did not find a second to him who, in pride
Was worthy and in praise was suited

62. Other than ‘Abdul Hadi, his brother - my brother
The sword in speech, analysis and resolve firmly

63. And my brother the rising sun, a rising
That dazzles the sun when his shining face appears

64. And my brother, the rain, comfort
That calms rain even if dense clouds compete with him

65. Two moons that illuminate the darkness and the branch of glory that bears fruit
They protected within you the sanctuary of religion when

66. Many purchased from you the life of this world cheaply
And they persevered with resolve that imprisons

67. Difficulties - with it they rebuild Moses' Mount
Whoever sees the resolve that rebuilds mountains!

68. And palaces - if the ages strived for them
They would despair and show incapacity

69. The solidity of their building shakes the world
Yet their construction remains for ages

70. They took charge of that construction with expertise
Seeking only the Subtle, All-Aware

71. Through it they were most careful for God
And beyond the unseen, most pure in conscience

72. They exhausted themselves in serving the religion -
God rewarded their efforts with gratitude

73. They tired it so it may rest one day
In which it attains its full reward

74. The likes of that good deed equals Hajj
Since its equal was made wide and smooth

75. And God has promised that for each
A paradise and silk attire will be prepared

76. O courtyard! You never ceased to be for prayers
And repentance, a mosque and purity

77. Remain as long as the mountains settled
And your Builder remains, called to journey

78. And perfume it with the fragrance of this poem
You would think its words scattered pearls

79. It concludes as it began within you - you do not know
Which of its aromas was more stimulating
