1. Spring boasted of beauty, but spring has lied
That is but my tear it has beautified

2. The clouds stood by it with me, but my tear
Precipitated while spring's was brief

3. The caravan departed early from the abode
I bid it farewell as it and my patience crumbled

4. O you who departed from my sight, my innermost being
Do you intend to travel from ruby mountain to barren land?

5. Now the children of hope, tomorrow the elite
They are loved though once they were hated

6. From where they did not face in their pursuit
The face of success save being aloof

7. Time has sworn to prolong its ordeal
Until merits are attained by the virtuous

8. They reached the plains from the saddened and only
Traversed the horizon for one better than a world in grasp

9. For him they wore the night of ambitions darkened
And with it they replaced the dawn of merits whitened

10. So they saw a young man whose cheer nearly drips
Water for which spring was astir and beautified

11. And a youth to whom high honor entirely
Relinquished the reins of generosity and empowered

12. Burdens of glory, were he to bear its weight
Would not be endured even were he to persevere
