1. The people were struck as if intoxicated,
filling the universe with shock and dismay.

2. With speeches the likes of which patience cannot chant,
brought to us by time in innovation.

3. In the speech of eras none like it came,
and of old nothing of its like was indicated.

4. The hearts of all cooled, distraught,
from it, and from anguish became intoxicated.

5. And for it would have been the tears, had not
the heat of our breaths formed oceans.

6. And little of it avails, though it does not benefit -
the eye sends its tears flowing.

7. An affliction that fills existence with wounds
that fill the earth and sky with darkness.

8. O souls of the refugees! Take off as a ray of light
and realize when your time has come the strings.

9. And chill, O Paganism, tranquility,
for he who was fire between your sides has died.

10. For whom does desire take refuge,
for the Kaaba of guidance has lost the refugee?

11. And for him the rubble has become rubble,
hiding in the earth where he hid.

12. The horizon darkened in the darkness of bereavement,
and the wind of spring blew a storm.

13. Mark well, O misfortunes, your horses among us,
raiding wherever you intend the caves.

14. And pasture in the protected lands of humanity, for death
has sunk its talons in its victims.

15. Who protected it from being attacked and by force
repelled the hands of time from it shortly?

16. Ambitions where the moon is not seen travelling,
ascents that know no descent.

17. How can a house empty of grief for him
whose dew has not avoided homes?

18. He ruled the people gently as servants,
so after his loss they became freemen.

19. O brigands of Islam! Do not secretly consult
to diminish the pure religion in secrecy.

20. Do not suppose that Muhammad left
no heir to guide the world.

21. For the Imam Mahdi rose among them
as a flag to guide the world and beacon.

22. Whatever knowledge of the heavens Allah built,
it is a full moon in its horizon that illuminated.

23. Cling to the truth in his guidance, so become
with him the truth wherever it turns.

24. From him the tents are filled with justice and piety
and a pride of Hashim that has no peer.

25. And love in the beloved, derived from him,
a pillar of joy, a paragon of dignity and honor.

26. So you see the people silent awe of him,
whispering speech secretly.

27. O best of people in status and worth,
and most honored of mankind in soul and lineage.

28. It is proper for me to console you,
though consolation from you is now borrowed.

29. And it is ugly of me if I were to say patience
to the one who taught patience to the world.
